The study of intercultural communication was once only of interest to anthropologists, diplomats and people on foreign service. However, with the expansion of foreign travel and the development of what has become known as the Global Village, many now find themselves having to communicate across different cultures.

You may face this challenge, communicating with your boss, with your employees, your colleagues, your clients, your students – or as in my own case, with your wife and family!
Even when you speak a second language,  you don't necessarily understand a second culture. This has resulted in a scramble for solutions – and in the billion dollar industry of corporate intercultural training.

The airport bookshop too is now stocked with books explaining how to communicate successfully in Japan , how to do business in China, how to win clients in the Middle East and so on. This is a great start, but nowadays people may live in, and be influenced by, several very different national cultures during their lives. Their personal culture is a highly individual mix of all these.

That's why on this course, we will be looking at the latest tools being used to offer an individual their own personal cultural profile and explain how people with very different profiles might interact more successfully.
