Do you keep hearing the term 'Artificial Intelligence' or AI in the media? Do you tell yourself this is something you don't need to bother about?

As our world is transformed by AI, this disruptive technology brings huge social and ethical challenges. Even without any computing expertise, we need to understand what AI means if we're to stay up-to-date with society and younger family and friends.

This five-week course is for complete beginners with no prior knowledge. It introduces fundamental ideas in AI and considers its future applications, limitations, regulation and ethics.

Did you know ideas about Artificial intelligence are 70 years old – dating back to Alan Turing in the 1950's. We'll look at some of the milestones in the development of AI and begin to understand machine learning, chatbots, algorithmic bias and general artificial intelligence.

We'll look at real life applications from online shopping, Netflix & YouTube to the justice system and new drug development.

We'll discuss the many concerns about AI, the ethical considerations and ask 'Who controls AI?'

Let's face the future together and enjoy this new challenge.
