'THE SACK OF FROME'
In the 1960s and 70s many areas of Frome were earmarked for demolition, thus making way for modern construction at the cost of lost heritage. This three-hour 'talk & walk' event begins with a presentation that reveals the official thinking and legislation behind the wanton destruction of this Somerset Market Town, along with the organised protest that sprang up to ultimately put a stop to its completion. The second part of the session then heads out into many of the areas most affected. Led by well-known local historian and author David Lassman.
