I've been teaching dance for Frome Community Education since it began in 2011.
I'm passionate about providing opportunities for people to dance, whatever their age, ability and shape, and to enjoy the health and well being benefits that dance brings. In the last 5 years, I've become very excited about the growing area of dance for older people and have completed some inspiring workshops to develop new skills in this area. My teaching style is informal, friendly and caring with a focus on having fun as well as learning steps and routines.
I trained to teach dance to children and adults at Trinity Laban, London where I completed a Post Graduate Dance in the Community Diploma in 2006.
After moving to Frome in 2007, I worked as a dance artist for the Participatory Arts Workshop Scheme in Wiltshire for 3 years and delivered dance projects to children and adults. I also taught a beginners Salsa course for Somerset Skills and Learning.
In 2017 I set up a community project delivering weekly seated dance with music for people living with dementia and their carers at Frome Community Hospital.
I've danced all my life, starting with ballet classes from the age of 6 to 13 and then discovered Contemporary dance. I love all types of dance but the styles I enjoy the most are Contemporary, African, Salsa, Charleston & Lindy Hop all of which I incorporate in my classes as well as many other styles!
