During the mid-late nineteenth century, the market town of Frome was a rough, tough place to be, with widespread poverty and crime rife throughout its streets.
This one-off session will look at the period that witnessed a seismic change in policing in the area, the rise and demise of the notorious Maggs-Sparrow gang, and two local murders which became infamous within this Victorian age and required the assistance of the recently formed Detective Branch of Scotland Yard.
