I have taught for the Workers' Education Association and have a degree in English and Classical Studies from the University of Reading, undertaken in my 50s.
My particular enthusiasm is the legends and myths of both Ancient Greece and Britain, and how they have influenced writers through the ages. Having taught classes for the WEA, I have been thrilled by the enthusiasm of the class members for these enduring stories and their representation in literature, art and film – Homer, through Shakespeare and Agatha Christie to Harry Potter!
